Production of Cherry Black

Chars of different kinds of fruitstones mostly cherry, grape, peach and almond stones, have been used as pigments for a long time. However, the resulting black pigments are by no means identical. We offer three sorts of black pigments made from charred fruitstones: Cherry black, grape black and peach black. Cherry black is a warmer, more brownish black compared to the matt peach black and the bluish-black grape black. In any case, the process of carbonization requires a constant high temperature without any oxygenation. The homogenous structure of the carbon skeleton determines the quality of the black pigment: The more even the composition of the original material, the better the structure of the carbonized product.
