The shade of stone powder resembles 58190 chalk from Sarti, grayish tint, but is slightly stronger. The color is suitable for watercolor and watercolor, for egg tempera and acrylic dispersion. However, the hue of the pigment changes to a warm, brownish gray in all binders. The pigment has a grain size of finer 80 µ. It rubs off well in aqueous binders, but coarser particles remain visible in the paint coat. In watercolor the color granulates somewhat. Burgundy Gray can also be rubbed well in oil, but it tends to flow like cobalt or ultramarine pigments. The color stays better if a little thickener, e.g. 79225 Wax Stain, is added. In all binders, the pigment is very glazing.
