Colored glass plates were used in the past to decorate nativity scenes, monastery works and grotto works. The colored flakes can be sprinkled into a binder or wet paint or used in a similar way to mica in putties, lime or clay plasters. The glass flakes create a strong, colored glitter effect. They are made of wafer-thin glass foils and sieved to a grain size of 0.5 - 2 mm. The platelets are available in various colors, highly lightfast and stable up to about 500°C.
